De pers over 'Powderblue'

Looks like the best alt-country record of 2004 so far has been made in The Netherlands by the wonderful Marjolein van der Klauw who includes a cover of Gllian Welch's Dry Town and guess what she's more than capable of gving Ms Welch a run for her money.....along with guitarist Jac Bico she has already recorded one cd in her native Netherlands called So Much To Cover through the Basta Record label. She has gained recognition and won a major competition. This her second release is a stunning old timey influenced recording. Can't really fault it at all. Production is superb and the songwriting on tracks like Rosie and Blame it on me is as good as anything that has come out stateside in last few years. Her voice is not as mannered as Welch and at times hints at Rosie Thomas and Laura Cantrell. The guitar is tasteful and precise. Euro-americana djs are already placing this high in their chart and one can see why. Thoroughly deserving of investigation and hopefully it will get a U.S. release soon.
